SARDIS SECONDARY COMMUNITY INFORMATION - April 01, 2020
Access to Sardis Secondary
As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and to support the safety of the public and our employees, Sardis Secondary is temporarily closed to public walk-ins.
Continuity of Learning
This week, Sardis Secondary staff will continue to plan to support students with outside the classroom and at-home learning opportunities. Please note: the primary focus for the remainder of Term 3 will be providing an opportunity for those students who are currently failing a course to move their mark to a passing grade AND providing an opportunity for all students to increase their current mark/academic standing. Please be reassured that we will continue to offer engaging and robust learning opportunities as we migrate to a new learning modality in Term 4.
Communicating with Families
Parents/Guardians will be contacted by a Sardis Secondary staff member today or tomorrow to check in regarding the transition to a virtual classroom environment. This initial call will also provide staff with the opportunity to ask questions regarding your student's access to technology.
Communication with Staff
Students & parents are encouraged to communicate with staff via email using the staff list on our website at https://sardissecondary.sd33.bc.ca/staff If you have a general question, comment or concern, please email email@example.com and it will be redirected to the corresponding staff member.
If you need to connect with your Vice Principal please email them at:
Paul Bernard (firstname.lastname@example.org) - students last names beginning with A-G
Shane Wiseman (email@example.com) - students last names beginning with H-N
Lynnet Schramm (firstname.lastname@example.org) - students last names beginning with O-Z
Access to Student Lockers
It may be necessary for students to access learning materials from their lockers as teachers establish plans for the continuity of learning. A process for access to learning materials was emailed to all families yesterday, Tuesday, March 30th.
Student Progress - Graduation Program
The provincial government announced last week that every student will receive a final mark for this year, and that some graduation assessments were being postponed and students would be able to progress to the next grade level, or graduate, as usual at the end of this school year. The Ministry also made a commitment that every Grade 12 student who has not yet completed the Grade 10 numeracy assessment and who is otherwise on track to graduate will be provided the opportunity to meet this graduation requirement.
As this pandemic unfolds, events such as prom and graduation ceremonies are on "hold." We will wait to see how our collective efforts slow down the transmission of the virus and for all of the provincial orders to be lifted before we start planning for these events in the future.
